not your normal.

like i've described thus far, our flat is not your normal apartment. it wasn't what i had in mind but the longer we have been here, the more i have grown to enjoy it and understand the fact that we are here, and we are here!

it went from a "wait, what is this place?" to a place that we are calling a temporary home. the flat. hyde park gate

i'm getting used to 20 girls sharing one flat, one living room, one eating area, one kitchen, seven bedrooms, and a few bathrooms.
the crumbs on the floor aren't so pleasant. glad i brought some plain flip flops and socks! the constant crumbs and gunk on the studying table isn't appealing. dear monty my macbook always needs to be sitting on a clean surface!

our cute little room is homey. chrisse, hilary, and i are becoming good friends real quick. and i love it! but... (cover your eyes if you don't want to read about toilets). the toilet in 2C has been having problems ever since we arrived last monday. maybe it doesn't like Mormons, or BYU, or Jimmer Fredette. but, we do need to use the thing, yes, girls need to use the loo.

there's a small sign nearby that says:

does this mean the water should actually stop running? that's what i would think. not so.
the flush goes, the water pumps. and pumps. and sometimes, one flush doesn't do it. so two, or three, or four, or five, or six, maybe ten? what a doozie!

i'm getting used to the cracking paint in the window sills, the mint green bath tub, the squeaky hallway, the moving floorboards under the carpet, the black specks on the tile that make the floor look like it's never clean, the blue carpet that looks like it should be in a carpeted church cultural (alliteration?) hall. what a place.

soon enough, we will feel "at home" with these wonderful attributes of hyde park gate flat 2. then, it will be time to leave again.

a small place of our home here in london:
gloucester road tube stop.

please, mind the gap.

preview of westminster abbey/day of my birth!

i laugh every time. so glad i have my camera!
