the actual tower!

monday... was the day for the tower of london!

the day previous we attended church at the hyde park chapel, same location we meet for school. the ward was expecting lots of visitors because the utah valley youth symphony orchestra was performing. a performance we went to later that night. it was quite full. us ladies stayed in the chapel the full 3 hours.
sunday school teacher, or should i say preacher? is a former actor. he talked like one of those guys that narrates books on tape, you get what i'm saying? it was hilarious. i felt bad to laugh in his lesson, but i had a hard time taking him seriously!

so monday. tower of london
school was from 9-12 and we left immediately after. walking through and underneath to the south kensington tube stop, we rode to the tower. we walked out of the tube stop, under another tunnel and BAM, there was the tower. almost like a whole property. covered in ancient looking bricks and all! it was pretty cool to see. one thing i am bummed at here in london, is all of the construction. for one, it ruins a lot of my pictures while i'm trying to catch the artistic style. and two, it just looks tacky. oh well.

we waited and waited to get in. let me tell you, this was another tourist magnet! so many groups of tourist people that travel everywhere on coaches. and many  many school groups. it was crazy. it is close competition to stonehenge!
we finally made our way into the area. first, was the building to see the crown jewels! the line wasn't too bad. (compared to the 200+ people waiting in line as we were leaving the tower). inside was amazing. i wish we could have taken pics, but i understand why we couldn't.

there were 20,000+ jewels to see! they were obviously attached to crowns and swords. but it was incredible. there was also a plethera of gold and silver. swords, plates, goblets, all those royal things. i still wonder how much that building is worth with those diamonds inside!

some of the coolest (i think) british history is at the tower of london! we went through the white tower and the bloody tower. all very cool historic things! click those links if you'd like to know more! i can't believe how much history is in that place.
