another fact? these people are always wearing their grumpy pants!! i picked this phrase up from my sister-in-law, becky. she says it all the time and i love to say it too haha.
so these londoners have their grumpy pants on constantly.
when we were in bristol at mcdonald's using the internet, the shift manager guy came and talked to us. he blabbed on about some weird festival that was going on across the street and was renowned for drugs. said something about americans never liking the UK and we are never happy. that we like will & kate more than the natives. blah blah.
two nights ago, i met another grumpy. hilary and i went with a group of girls to see if we could pick up a cheap ticket for a show. we didn't want to go to the one the others chose so we decided to walk around and pick up dinner - do some touristy sight seeing.
we wandered into a typical "i heart london" store. postcards, hoodies, etc. i found some post cards i liked, went up to buy them. the guy scanned them, placed them in a small bag and held the bag up to my face probably three inches away. he didn't say anything to me. then after a few seconds, said "80 pence". i paid him the money and asked, "are you having a good day?" he grumbled some more and said, "yeah, why." i told him that he didn't look too happy, he didn't smile at me or even talk. he basically just looked at me like i was the biggest idiot ever. he said, "you americans are always so fussy (i didn't know what that meant, so i asked). we can never please you here." i told him that i have had a great time so far in london and love the city and i was just wondering if he was having a good night. he was mean, and we walked out.
man, grumpy people here in the UK area! he had is grumpy shorts and grumpy, red, work polo on for sure.
hilary and i walked around a bit more, passed some restaurants, small shops that were closed of course. we wandered into the piccadilly circus area, into soho and found the chinatown streets! we settled on dumpling house for dinner. it was great. i needed some dumplings of course! and we ordered some other dishes. it was tasty. seems like the international food here in london is great, but there isn't anything that is authentic to london. bummer. i guess i'll settle for frosted flakes and bagels in the morning! oh and frozen pizza for the other meals.
hilary got apple juice (that would be the green juice in the back),
little did we know it was freshly squeezed apple juice!
shrimp fried ry.
dumplings = the best!
m&m factory opening night!
tallest man in the world.
found this cool store ;)
i love london so far, the people could just lighten up a bit, i think!
