an artist has no home in europe except paris.

we have been going nonstop ever since arriving in paris on wednesday evening!

the chunnel was our transportation to paris from london. get it, chunnel is a tunnel UNDER the english channel!

after arriving off of the train in paris, i felt completely out of my element. every sign was in french. all the people spoke french and if they did speak english, the french accent made it sound like they were speaking french! they sound like they have 1/3 cup of spit stored in their mouth as they speak. it was very confusing. i was weirded out to know that we were on our own in paris! dr. anderson and his wife are here but they are traveling on their own and we have seen them once since being here.

kathryn, karra, and i meandered our way to the correct metro train that took us to the stop near our ibis hotel. we thought we had good directions that would take us right to our hotel but it took us about an hour of wandering around to find it. we asked a few people where to go, they hardly understood us.

like i said, as soon as we arrived in paris, we have been going nonstop! we dropped off our things, had about five minutes to regroup before we headed out to find some food and to the eiffel tower. near our hotel are tons of small (and bigger) restaurants. we snuck into a small one and had some panini (yes that's plural). while we were there, we met up with some other girls. kendra, kathryn, karra, and i were still eating and left after everyone else. we would meet up with them at the tower.
let's just say, our route to the tower was a couple hours longer than everyone else's! we wanted to figure out where we were at and walk around and head to the eiffel via the metro. that didn't happen. it started pouring rain. the two stops we were going to take to get to the eiffel were closed. of course.
instead, we ended up walking to the tower! 6.5 kilometers. yes. that would be about 4 miles. it was pouring rain. seriously.
not my favorite thing to do. walk in the rain. remember the 9 mile  "country walk"? ha.

we made it to say the least. we walked! sheesh. just in time for the tower to be lit up. not just normal lights. there are small white lights all over the tower that sparkle. it was beautiful. i was a little bummed that we could only see this from a distance, but we saw it nonetheless.
the rest of the girls were at the same place at the eiffel as we were and we all met back up to take some pictures and get some treats. of course. DON'T FORGET. the crepes here are theeee best. one of my treat weaknesses? i think so. if you all were here, they would be your weakness too!
i loved the eiffel. it was beautiful. it was amazing. it was much bigger than i expected.
it was the perfect beginning to PARIS!!

sparkly tower.

building covered in plants!

we were laughing, can you tell?
